RCB’s new sensation and it’s not a player

Royal Challengers Bangalore started this season with some really good performances in the first leg of IPL in April 2021. Thanks to this, the team is currently 3rd on the points table with five wins and 3 losses, taking their points tally to 10 points. There have been many positives for RCB this year, be it Glenn Maxwell with the bat or Harshal Patel with the ball.

However, RCB did not manage to start the second phase of the tournament with a victory. The second phase of the Indian Premier league kicked off on 19th September 2021. It was the El Classico of cricket, Mumbai Indians versus Chennai Super Kings. CSK beat MI by 20 runs, with a brilliant bowling performance. From Mumbai’s side, only Saurabh Tiwary managed to get a fifty.

In the second match of the second phase, Royal Challengers Bangalore played against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. RCB vs KKR is a rivalry in itself. This time it was KKR who won the match. It was an all round dominant performance by the men in purple. They were made to bowl first after loosing the toss. Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell were the stand out performers taking 3 wickets each. RCB was bundled up for 92 runs.

When KKR came to chase, Shubhman Gill and debutant Venkatesh Iyer gave a flying start to the team. Thanks to their aggressive batting, KKR chased down the total in 10 overs with 9 wickets remaining.

After the poor performance of RCB, fans and critics took twitter to show their disappointment towards the team. Apart from the memes about RCB’s performance, one more picture from the match went viral.

Don’t know who she is ? She is Navnita Gautam

Navnita Gautam – RCB massage therapist

Navnita Gautam is the massage therapist who currently works with Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL. She was born on 11 April 1992 in Vancouver, Canada. Navnita Gautam has worked with various teams before joining RCB. She has worked with the Toronto Nationals team in the Global T20 Canada. Also, the 29-year-old has served as a support staff member for the Indian Women’s Basketball Team during their Asia Cup campaign.

Navnita Gautam is the first and the only female to be part of the support staff for any IPL franchise. In 2019, when she was asked about being the only woman in the support staff, she answered, “Absolutely not. It’s like having 20 brothers around at all times. Slowly but surely, the transition is happening. I believe that as long as the players and support staff trust your work, gender shouldn’t be an issue as we are all healthcare professionals.”
